Sender Based Routing in mixed Exchange organizations
If you are in a migration process from legacy Exchange Server versions to Exchange Server 2007 or higher, please upgrade your internet facing bridgehead servers based on Exchange Server 2000/2003 to hub transport servers based on Exchange Server 2007/2010 prior to implementing messageconcept ExSBR.
If you have any questions regarding messageconcept ExSBR in a mixed environment, please contact us directly to profit from our long-term migration experience.
Sender Based Routing in legacy Exchange Server versions
messageconcept ExSBR runs on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and higher only. If you are running a legacy Exchange Server version in your environment you need to upgrade at least your internet facing transport servers to Exchange Server 2007 or higher to run ExSBR. An upgrade of other servers and roles is not needed.
Alternatively make use of the built-in Delivery Restrictions functionality on your SMTP Connectors. This feature is available in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and older versions, it is not a part of Exchange Server 2007 or higher.
This functionality is turned off by default, because it significantly affects system performance. For more information please dee this Microsoft Support KB Article.
